Night of the Toxic Ostrich

Book review; Night of the Toxic Ostrich by Nick Revell

A very interesting book, it includes a woman who gets a moustache surgically grafted on a man who is trying to get so fat he can go on daytime talk shows as britains fattest man and blame it all on his wife leaving him and also quite a few genetically enhanced ostriches. Extremely weird but very entertaining and easy to read.

Storms of silence

Book Review; Storms of silence by Joe Simpson.

A very well written book. Although it is written by the same author as touching the void, the book is not really about climbing mountains but more about the surrounding events that he experiences while climbing.

The te toko gorge

We for a leasurely hour long stroll down the te toko gorge on the side of mount Karioi to the sea and the millions of crabs that reside amongst the rocks there. Well worth the look a few nice stand of karaka and puriri and lots of weird spongy grass at the bottom.

Duelling banjoes.

Unfortunately I missed the moving in and birthday party for our neighbours today as I was prtending to be bob the builder and fix my brothers bathroom with him. Nonetheless my mother valiantly went along by herself and came back with some interesting tales. Due to never ending subdivisions there are now three different houses and a couple of seperate blocks of land down the end of our road. From the sound of it though things are not idylic down on the swampy flats and there is a bit of good old fashioned fueding going on. Supossedly two of the neighbors (I'll call them A & B because I don't know there real names as I've never met them), who from the one sided gossip I got, are right bastards have been telling some of the other neighbors (C & D) that if any of there livestock wanders onto their property it will be shot on sight. Naturally C & D were not overly thrilled about this and when about 20 of A's mangy goats wandered onto C's property he rounded them up and shot them, much to the amusement of D whose party it was.
If it wasn't for gumboot lines farming could nearly be tolerable.

Self indulgence

Did nothing useful today and I certainly hope to replicate the feat tomorrow.
After all what are holidays for.
