Dirty all black wife beaters
In a rather disgusting turn of events the New Zealand justice system decided to spectacularily fail to live up to its name and let a rugby player off after he had dragged his wife back inside by her hair after she had tried to get away from him. Just to top it off though the judges reasoning was that being an all black the publicity would cause him too much embarrasment if he was convicted and to that extent he was also given name supression. Unfortunately that name supression doesn't apply in australia so I can quite happily announce that is Sam Tuitupou.
Beggars
Got hit up by a beggar as I was walking past the hospital yesterday and for once in sydney it may just have been that this person was legitimate but probably not.
For a start he said he had just got out of hospital after coming to sydney for an operation, which would seem logical since he was standing near the hospital and was replete with bandages. Still when he said he was from Queensland and had to get get back there as his father had just shot himself I started to get suspicious, after all theres no doubt queensland is a bit backwards but I'm sure they still have hospitals. But what really made me doubt him was the fact that he kept telling me his story was real every few seconds. Nonetheless I sent him on his way with a staggeringly generous $1.20 donation. After all his father had just supposedly shot himself so I didn't want to be too mean, although a subtle question about weather his newly aquired inheritance could have helped him may have been appropriate.

New and improved
By exhausting trial and error I finally managed to get my blog looking like I want it with out screwing everything up.
Sweaty happenings
I'll try not to bitch too much about how hot it is at the moment, although I was sweating before I had even stepped out of the house this morning.
Saw the movie sideways just the other day it was slow to start with but quite humerous and involved lots of lovely wine tasting and one particularily strange scene invloving a fat naked hillbilly and his wife.
Also saw donnie darko the directors cut the other day and although I liked it alot it's hard to say much about it due to it being a very confusing and sureal.

Finally got something to work
After nearly six months of failed attempts I finally got something to crysallise that is vaguely along the lines of what I should be doing for my PhD.
Elsewhere in the feeble existance that passes for my life I braved the crowds of sydney and went shopping in the weekend for clothes, managed to find myself a pair of shorts after much searching. Its strange how shopping for some things such as tramping and climbing equipment can be so pleasureable while shopping for clothes or shoes is so horrible.

Back in Australia
Crickey its hot sticky and humid but then one should really expect such things living in Australia.
Got here about two weeks ago but have been a bit slack in posting.
Went to Australia day last Sunday and got to watch thousands of australians running around wrapped in there flag. Didn't see any aborigines though for some reason. Also noted that there is a campaign under way in New Zealand to change the flag, however I think it would be better if we didn't have one at all as its only real use seems to be to help politicians manipulate people.
